Okky : Fine, how about you?

Aya : Fine too, thanks. Are you going to watch the dolphin show too?

Okky : Yes, of course. I’ve been waiting so long to watch such show.

Aya : Really?

Okky : Yes for sure, and how about you? You are going to watch it, aren’t you?

Aya : Not really. I just wanna refresh my mind. School assignments make me crazy.

Okky : The right place to visit, huh?

Aya : I hope so.

Okky : Talking about dolphin, do you know that it is one of the cleverest animal?

Aya : Really?

Okky : yes, Dolphins have a simple language. They are able to talk to one another. It may be possible for man to learn how to talk to dolphins. But this will not be easy because
dolphins cannot hear the kind of sounds man can make. If man wants to talk to dolphins,
therefore, he will have to make a third language which both he and the dolphins can
understand.

Aya : Ouch, surprising. I can’t imagine how they do that. It seems so strange for human to communicate with them. I couldn’t imagine the tools, if any, to communicate with them as well.

Okky : ahaha... I could nor neither. By the way, the show seems to begin. Let’s go

Aya : OK

1. Read a report text entitled Komodo Dragon
2. Answer the questions orally.

Got it students?
Ok, let's start this fun activity

KOMODO DRAGON

Do you know what is the largest lizard? This lizard is called komodo. It lives in the scrub and woodland of a few Indonesian islands.

Komodo dragon is the world's heaviest lizard, weighing 150 pounds or more. The largest Komodo ever measured was more than 10 feet (3 meters) long and weighed 366 pounds (166 kg) but the average size of komodo in the wild is about 8 feet (2.5 meters) long and 200 pounds (91 kg)

Komodo has gray scaly skin, a pointed snout, powerful limbs and a muscular tail. They use their keen sense of smell to locate decaying animal remains from several miles away. They also hunt other lizards as well as large mammals and are sometimes cannibalistic.

The Komodo dragon's teeth are almost completely covered by its gums. When it feeds, the gums bleed, creating an ideal culture for virulent bacteria. The bacteria that live in the Komodo dragon's saliva causes septicemia, or blood poisoning, in its victims. A dragon will bite its prey, then follow it until the animal is too weak to carry on.
This lizard species is threatened by hunting, loss of prey species and habitat loss.

Answer these questions orally
1. What is the largest lizard in the world?
2. Where do they live?
3. How do they locate the decaying animal?
4. What do they eat?
5. Separate the text into its generic structure

Review of Englishspeak.com

The name of the website is englishspeak.com

This website is actually to support speaking skill. It provides most common words, phrases and conversation which are often used. It provides the audio form and the script as well, so the reader can use it effectively. Teacher can use this website to teach students how to pronounce the words properly. He or she can also show students how the native speakers speak. Students can use this website as well. They can improve their speaking ability by practicing the conversation. They will be able to improve their listening skill since they will hear first before they practice the conversation.

I think this website is quite good to teach speaking. It provides the audio of the words, phrases and conversation so it will enable students to learn pronunciation, intonation and stress in the same time. So the teacher doesn’t need to look for different material to teach those aspects since it is already provided in this website.

My suggestion for this website, since in my place, where I live, the internet connection is still difficult to find, it will be better if this website provide a software which has the same content as those in the website. Then, for the administrator, please improve the content of the website. Add more conversation. Sometime in the future, if the content is still the same, it is possible that the website will be abandoned. You may also add more different content, such as material for reading, writing and listening.
